The Difference

Why Sullivan’s Flake Floors Outperform Every Alternative

A flake floor is only as good as the chemistry holding it together. Most coatings companies install flake into a cheap epoxy base, then call it a day. We don’t. Every Sullivan’s flake floor is built on a polyurea base coat and sealed with a polyaspartic top coat, the same chemistry used in industrial and commercial environments where failure is not an option.Kentucky and Indiana concrete takes a real beating, freeze-thaw swings, road salt, and hot tires, and a flake floor that can’t handle those conditions won’t last a Louisville winter, let alone a lifetime.

Built for Real Life.

Hot tires, dropped tools, oil drips, and the freeze-thaw cycles that define a Kentuckiana winter. Our polyaspartic top coat shrugs off the things that destroy traditional epoxy floors

No Primer Required.

Sullivan’s polyurea base bonds directly to properly prepared concrete. No primer coat, no overnight cure, no extra day on your calendar.

UV Stable.

Sun exposure does not yellow, chalk, or fade our flake floors. The color you pick on day one is the color you live with for life.

Lifetime Residential Warranty.

We do not warranty workmanship for a year and walk away. We back every residential flake floor for life.

Why Polyaspartic Wins

Polyaspartic Flake vs Epoxy Flake. A Side-by-Side Look

Both systems use the same decorative chip blend. The difference is what holds it together. Most homeowners shopping for a flake floor are quoted an epoxy-based system from a national chain or a part-time installer. Here is the honest comparison.

Crack Repair — The Add-On Most Flake Floors Need

The flake floor is the system. Crack Repair is the add-on most homeowners add during their install, because almost every existing slab has a few visible cracks worth handling before the coating goes down.

Sullivan’s Crack Repair add-on uses diamond-ground V-cuts filled with polyurea so old concrete cracks do not reappear under your new flake coating. The repair is invisible under the finished floor and structurally sound for the life of the slab.

Installing Flake in a Commercial Space? Ask About Cove Base.

Cove base is a commercial and industrial add-on, not a residential one. If your flake install is for a restaurant, food-service environment, healthcare facility, or any space where the floor-to-wall transition needs to be fully cleanable and code-compliant, ask about adding a 4-inch coved transition during your on-site consultation.

0% Financing Available for Qualified Buyers

A premium flake floor is an investment that pays back every time you walk into your garage, basement, or patio. Spread that investment across affordable monthly payments with no interest for qualified applicants.

FAQs

Cost, Pricing, and Financing Flake Floor Questions, Answered

When installed properly over a polyurea base, a Sullivan’s flake floor is engineered to last for the life of the slab. We back every residential flake floor with a lifetime warranty for that reason.

Yes. Walkable the same evening, fully cured for foot and vehicle traffic in 24 hours. No three-day waiting game like epoxy.

Existing concrete cracks should be repaired before the coating goes down, which is exactly what our Crack Repair add-on does. New cracks from major slab movement are rare but possible. We address that directly during your on-site consultation.

Diamond grinding handles all of it. We grind the slab clean to bare concrete before any coating goes down. Old failed epoxy comes off, oil contamination is mitigated, and the slab is properly prepared for our polyurea base.

No. The flake itself creates a textured surface, and we can adjust the texture by varying the flake size and broadcast density to match your environment.

Yes. Basements are one of the best applications for flake floors because the system handles humidity, hides imperfections in older slabs, and brightens the whole space.

Lifetime warranty on residential installs. 5-year warranty on commercial installs.
